Terms of Service
1. Who You Are Buying From
This website is operated by Mahinaz Elmessiry ("we", "us"), a design studio based in Cairo, Egypt. Our full trading name, registered address, telephone number, commercial registration number and tax registration number are published in the Seller Information section of this site and on every invoice we issue, as required by the Consumer Protection Law No. 181 of 2018 and its Executive Regulations.
You can reach us at any time at mahi@mahinazelmessiry.com.
2. Acceptance of These Terms
By browsing this site or placing an order you agree to these terms. Please read them before ordering — submitting an order means you accept them. These terms do not limit any right granted to you by Egyptian law; where a term conflicts with a mandatory provision of Egyptian law, the law prevails.
3. Our Products
Every piece is handcrafted by Egyptian artisans. Small variations in colour, texture, weave and finish are inherent to handmade work and form part of each piece's character — they are not defects. Photography is as faithful as we can make it, but screen calibration means colours may differ slightly from the physical piece.
Before you order, each product page states the material, origin, dimensions and price. If any information you need is missing, ask us before ordering and we will provide it.
4. Bespoke and Made-to-Order Pieces
Items marked bespoke or made-to-order are produced specifically for you. We confirm the design, materials, lead time and final price with you in writing before any payment is taken. Because these pieces are made to your specification, the 14-day change-of-mind return right does not apply to them — but your rights in respect of defective, damaged or non-conforming goods apply in full.
5. Prices, VAT and Invoices
All prices are shown in Egyptian Pounds (EGP). The price displayed is the final price of the item, inclusive of any applicable Value Added Tax. Delivery charges, where they apply, are shown separately and added before you confirm payment — you always see the total amount payable before you pay.
We issue an invoice for every order, whether or not you ask for one, stating the total price, the applicable warranty period and the applicable return period, as required by law.
6. Placing an Order
Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we confirm your order by email. Orders placed and confirmed through this website are valid electronic contracts under the E-Signature Law No. 15 of 2004.
We may refuse or cancel an order where there is a pricing or description error, where stock is unavailable, or where we reasonably suspect fraud. If we cancel an order you have already paid for, we refund the full amount to your original payment method.
7. Cancelling, Changing and Returning an Order
- You may cancel or amend your order within 7 days of placing it, provided it has not yet been dispatched.
- You may return a product bought through this website within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason.
- If a product is defective or does not match its description, you may return it within 30 days of receipt for a replacement or a full refund.
The full procedure, including who pays return shipping, is set out in our Return & Refund Policy.
8. Warranty
Durable goods are warranted against manufacturing defects for a minimum of 2 years from the date you receive them, in line with the Consumer Protection Law. The warranty covers inspection, repair and the supply of original spare parts, and we bear transport costs where the item must be repaired away from your premises. If the same product malfunctions more than twice within one year, we replace it at no cost to you.
9. Delivery
We deliver within the timeframe shown at checkout and confirmed in your order confirmation. If we cannot meet that timeframe, we will contact you and you may choose to wait, amend the order, or cancel it for a full refund.
10. Intellectual Property
All designs, photography, text and motifs on this site are the property of Mahinaz Elmessiry and are protected under Law No. 82 of 2002 on the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights. They may not be copied, reproduced or used commercially without our written permission.
11. Your Privacy
We handle your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 and its Executive Regulations. See our Privacy Policy for what we collect, why, and the rights you hold over your data.
12. Complaints and Governing Law
If something goes wrong, write to us at mahi@mahinazelmessiry.com — we aim to resolve every complaint quickly and fairly. You also have the right to complain to the Egyptian Consumer Protection Agency at any time, on hotline 19588 or at cpa.gov.eg.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the competent Egyptian courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
13. Language
These terms are published in English. An Arabic text is available on request at mahi@mahinazelmessiry.com. Where the two versions differ, the Arabic text prevails.
14. Changes
We may update these terms as the store develops. The version published on this page at the time you place your order is the version that applies to that order.
